My Place
by Alison Stormwolf

my place'Yesterday'
I felt alone
As one who wanders
In a graveyard
And my beating heart
Betrays me
'I am not
One of them'

'Today' I read
The poems of others
And my soul
Has a home'
For I see
In the words
That fall from
Their mouths

ALL that is me

All that constrained
Impulse to express
So many strange things
Yes, strange
But not to me
Not to them!

And so it is
For we are bonded
In the need to write
Not our choice
That was never an option
It had to manifest
Maybe in youth
Maybe in age

I read,
I see
And I feel
My place
In it all.
