Well,
what is death?
Other than the greatest
And final initiation
The treading over
The well worn cobblestones
Of sleep
Only this time, irreversible
Propelled forward
Into that light
Of loving acceptance
Therefore, in all things
Do not fear death
For he has been betrayed
Disguised and vilified wrongly;
He remains God’s greatest surprise
For His much loved children
The secret kingdom is awaiting
After that last breath
Yes, the moment
May seem cruel in the extreme
The pain of separation scalding
The mind and senses
Crucifying the hopes
To those of us left
With empty arms
And broken dreams
Who feel our futures plundered
And our colours drained
But that is from ‘our’
perspective
For death is an eventuality
An effect set in motion
From those first startled cries
Of the blood smeared, new borne
The Holy Horizon
The final resting place
Of our long hard path
Such a gift, such a blessing
When disrobed of terror.
So rest assured
And let the peace of the angels
Sing a new song
Into your heart of dread
For nothing and nobody
Can ever cease to exist
We simply cast off one worn garment
And clothe ourselves in light
The light of universal love
The bliss of eternal belonging.
And so it is.
